Eyes Only For You 7 x 5 Acrylic on Panel |
It seems that this guy has a favorite pose when he is trying to tell me something, you know, the "I need another chance at the neighbor's cat" or "just another bowl of food, now" look.
This stare-down lasts until his patience runs out and then.....the barking begins! (Who is in charge here????")The painting process:
On this Daily Painting.......
I have tried to back off from the bright, primary colors I have used in the previous posts and instead use a more muted palette. Of course I still had to exaggerate the colors a bit with some orange, blue and a bit of red in this. I love the contrast of his dark eyes against the light fur on his head. I continued to push for contrast in the play of orange/cream against the blue/gray. I enjoy using a round bristle brush to avoid too much detail.
Thank you for reading this and allowing me to share a little of "Joey's life" with you.
I hope to elaborate with some more info on technique as I continue to post because I do love to share the painting process as much as I love dogs!
Please feel free to comment and I look forward to any questions...
